Cody Van Felden

She/Her/Hers

“As a former foster youth and a youth who experienced a failed adoption, I was not properly educated on my sexual and reproductive health. The lack of education about my sexual health is directly responsible for my permanent neurological damage and almost created detrimental consequences for my daughter when I was still pregnant. I joined the RHEP Youth Advisory Board because I want to help spread the word about why providing education to our youth is so important. I am not shy about talking about my experience. No youth should have to experience anything remotely similar to what I went through. With the proper education and support, our youth can learn to thrive!”

When Cody is not working, she enjoys raising her 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter and working a variety of seven other jobs related to her work with advocacy to better the lives, supports, and opportunities available to foster youth. Cody is also scheduled to graduate from Sacramento State University in May 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She is excited to see where her path will lead and hopes to continue working with reproductive health and education far into her future.
